Scorpio Season and VETERAN'S DAY!!
NOVEMBER 10, 2007 ~ Entry 2
HAPPY VETERAN'S DAY AND HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!
Nothing special on MY end about today's entry. I'm feeling and ALWAYS feel honoured that my BIRTHDAY coincides tomorrow with such a day as Veteran's Day!! My WONDERFUL Dad & Father-in-law, both served in The Air Force. ALL my Dad's Brothers served in the Armed Forces, one was lost during WWII in Europe from friendly fire. I had another Uncle that died either after returning home or while on leave during a boating accident. SO PLEASE, Don't forget to Honor our Veteran's tomorrow on Veteran's Day!!
Any gesture of kindness, show of RESPECT will not be taken lightly by our Heroes in Uniform. If you don't know the full story of Ft. McHenry & The Honorable Francis Scott Key negotiating to the British for the release of our prisoner's for theirs, look it up, read it to your children ... the words of The Star Spangled Banner will take on a new life. I've always teared up to the word's of the song for several years. " ...gave proof thru the night our Flag was still there ... " The men that kept that flag upright thru the unrelentless bombardment of the British Naval fleet weren't even soldiers, but NO WAY were they getting a surrender from us. As George Washington said, "Our men would rather die on their feet, than LIVE on their knees", when a perplexed British Naval Officer couldn't comprehend them not surrendering. So many men fought to their deaths at Ft. McHenry, their body's piled in such a way it held that Flag up, albeit at an odd angle; but upright enough that surrender was clearly NOT on the table. The families and The Fort on the inside were well protected despite give efforts of The British. Sorry about the history lesson; BUT it's MY BIRTHDAY!! God bless our Men in Uniform & America. Have a wonderful Friday!!
- P.S. I'm new to the blog scene and accidentally or unknowingly put this WITH my intro entry. I'm learning. Bare with me!! Thanks!!
